In this alarming video, a sock puppet 'bot (Hm. I think they have those on IO9.com) emotes and is recognized by a SpiderBot. I think the jury is out on "emotional intelligence interfaces".... or it should be out, running for the hills! Watch the vid. See if it doesn't give you a cold shiver...

This is seriously cool, and just a little bit unsettling. I don't follow robotics super closely - just the occassional video out of Japan of something that looks vaguely humanoid that is dancing to music from Spoon or U2, but this seems to me to be a huge leap for real practical robotics.
