I've heard of "Bed in a Bag", but this is ridiculous...

I can understand the appeal of feeling safe, especially when you sleep. I, for one, can see the Quantum Sleeperprotecting me from being mercilessly tickled by the Mad Bikini Blogger in the middle of the night. (Except that since I sleep with her, I'd be imprisoned with the Mad Tickly Bikini Blogger person)Ben notes that in a fire, you'd bake nicely.I'm thinking that it may very well be more of a coffin than a small safe room

Ben Fuller: Aspiring Stand-Up Comic

Ben Fuller — Fri, 03/28/2008 - 11:06

So… Yup… I am officially a stand-up comic... Did my first open mic performance at the local club... That’s right… Ask me how it went!

Well, let me tell you – I totally underwhelmed them. But I wasn’t nearly as bad as I could have been. I have video of the show and as soon as I can figure out how to upload it somewhere I will share it out if anyone is interested. What I thought would be interesting though, would be to share my set with you here – and then when I can get the video up you can compare the actual delivery to the written plan. I am also hoping Jamie, my very good friend who did this all with me and better, will join me in blogging about here as we continue goofing around with trying to get passable at this. Read more »

Schweppes Super Slow Mo

Ben Fuller — Tue, 03/25/2008 - 15:06

Came across this on Ad Age - just really cool use of Slow Motion, nothing ground breaking or anything - just very neat and the background music is nice as well, just a pretty solid piece, not sure what it is sellling until the very end, but the imagery definitely sticks around for a while afterwards:

Man shot by Killer Robot

Ian Sutherland — Sat, 03/22/2008 - 07:56

Man shot by killer robotThis past week, in addition to the cool (and kind of creepy) video of the Big Dog robot, we get news of a man who built a robot for the specific purpose of suicide. More after the jump... Read more »

Boston Dynamics Big Dog

Ben Fuller — Thu, 03/20/2008 - 21:21

This is seriously cool, and just a little bit unsettling. I don't follow robotics super closely - just the occassional video out of Japan of something that looks vaguely humanoid that is dancing to music from Spoon or U2, but this seems to me to be a huge leap for real practical robotics. Here is the link to more of the story, followed by some of the video:

Cats in flight....

Perhaps the funniest (mis)use of cats in the service of humor I've seen in quite some time.
